Once I got over Fear Before the March of Flames wasn’t going to revisit their overt Botch influences on Art Damage, I started to appreciate the departure of Fear Before. It’s not nearly as heavy as Art Damage, or even The Always Open Mouth, but it also wasn’t as experimental as its predecessor and got to the point quicker and that’s what kind of won me over. Fear Before is still pretty low on the totem pole of albums I’m going to reach for, though.
